The Child Youth Advocacy Centre accepts students from social work and other relevant post-secondary programs. A placement at CYAC is an opportunity to learn, grow, and make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families in Durham Region.
CYAC Durham welcomes students who are passionate about child welfare, trauma-informed care, and advocacy. Our placements offer real-world experience working alongside dedicated professionals in a multi-disciplinary centre where police, child protection, health, and victim services come together.
Placements are an excellent opportunity to apply classroom learning in a meaningful context, build professional skills, and gain insight into the coordinated response to child abuse in Durham Region.
We accept placements from programs including, but not limited to:
Student placements are tailored to the requirements of your program and may include direct service experience, administrative responsibilities, research support, or community education work. All placement students will receive mentorship from experienced CYAC staff and are expected to uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
Please note that all placement students must complete a police vulnerable sector check and background screening prior to beginning their placement.
